Buy Cannabis in The Sunflower State
A midwestern state nestled in the heart of the land of the free has been affectionately known as the Jayhawk State, the Free State and the Sunflower state over the years. It is bordered by Oklahoma to the south, Nebraska to the north, Missouri to the east and Colorado to the west. The state was named Kansas after the Kansas river, which derived its name from the Kansa Native American tribe that has lived along its banks for thousands of years.
The land now known as Kansas saw its first American settlers in 1827. The first settlement was Fort Leavenworth and was a relatively slow-moving settlement for its first few decades. The pace rapidly accelerated during the 1850’s when the U.S.A. was in the midst of political turmoil around the controversial issue of slavery. In 1854, The United States government officially opened the territory for settlement with the Kansas-Nebraska Act. This brought a flood of people from neighboring territories to the area. The abolitionist “Free Staters” arrived from the New England territories and settlers coming from neighboring Missouri were of the pro-slavery mindset. These conflicting ideas created a lot of tension and led to a time period simply referred to as “Bleeding Kansas”. Bleeding Kansas was a five-year period between 1854 and 1859 where ideological and political debate over slavery turned violent in a series of confrontations that led to over 200 civilian deaths. At the heart of the matter was that the abolitionists wanted it to be a free state and the Missourians wanted it to be a pro-slavery state. With Kansas set to become a state in short order, the two soon to be appointed state senators would carry the deciding votes in the national debate. This civil strife was eventually settled, and the Jayhawk State entered the Union in 1861 as a free state and thus the unofficial nickname of “The Free State” was born. This turmoil was a direct antecedent to the American Civil War that started shortly after it entered the Union.
The climate in Kansas varies depending on where you are in the Sunflower State. The eastern two thirds of the state fall into the humid continental climate classification. This means that there are hot and humid summers followed by cool and cold winters. Precipitation happens most frequently during the summer and the spring. If you live closer to Colorado in the western one third of the state, you are going to experience a semi-arid steppe climate. This means that the summers can be very hot but experience less humidity and winters are highly variable. They can experience very cold temperatures yet thanks to Chinook winds can also be seasonally warm and have reached 80℉. Lastly, the southeastern and deep south-central area of Kansas, which includes Wichita, has a humid subtropical climate. This climate brings hot and humid summers with milder winters. It experiences more precipitation than other parts of the Jayhawker state. Regardless of where you are, there is going to be some overlap with these climatic regions. This all leads itself to challenges when tending to crops outdoors that require modifications for weather. If one was buying canabis seeds to grow marijauana outdoors, they should do their homework and be prepared for the changes.
The Free State is home to many fabulous National Park sites. The infamous Brown v. Board of Education national historic site is located on two pristine acres of land. This site was the former home of the Monroe Elementary schools that was once for African American students. It was opened in 2004 to commemorate the 50 year anniversary of the decision to end racial segregation in schools. Many of the national park sites have rich histories like Brown V. Board of Education park. Some others include the Fort Larned National Historic site which sits on 410 acres and includes restored buildings from the 19th century US Army fort, the Fort Scott National Historic Site, and the Nicodemus National Historic Site. Last but not least, there is the portion of the 4,900 mile long Lewis and Clark National historic trail that winds through the state. This trail extends through 16 states and follows the path as the two legendary explorers sought a feasible water route that would reach the Pacific Ocean in the early 19th century at the behest of Thomas Jefferson.
Kansas ranks in the top third of the country in terms of higher education. This can be attributed to the countless different academic institutions in the state, but there are a few heavy hitters that are well known nationally. The two most prominent universities in the state are the University of Kansas and Kansas State University. These two schools are lauded for their academic achievements but have also benefited from their outstanding basketball achievements. Other popular schools in the state are Johnson County Community College, Grantham University, Wichita State University, and Butler Community College, just to name a few. What all of these schools have in common other than geographical proximity is that they are filled with optimistic, bright minded students that are eager for the future. Eager for a future that hopefully allows for them to buy marijuana seeds and then use these marijuana seeds for sale to grow their own delicious and remarkable buds in the comfort of their homes.
Residents rejoiced in 2008 when Major League Soccer came to the state. Sporting Kansas City was the first topflight professional sports franchise in the state. Traditionally, sports fans in the Sunflower State have travelled a few miles over the border into Missouri and cheered for the Kansas City Royals and Kansas City Chiefs. While this still undoubtedly happens, many are happy they can call a team their own in exclusivity. What the state lacked in upper echelon professional sports, they made up for enthusiasm with college and minor pro level teams. The Kansas City T-Bones, Garden City Wind, and Wichita Wind Surge provided excitement and a family friendly atmosphere when the hankering for a hot dog and a ball game surfaced. In the wintertime, when the weather is cold and the excitement level dwindles, head over to a Wichita Thunder game for some hard hitting, action packed excitement that will have you reminiscing about that time on the frozen pond as a kid. Collegiate athletics in the state might reign supreme for many though, and The University of Kansas Jayhawks basketball team has been a national powerhouse for decades and has produced many elite level NBA players throughout its history. Every year, the team is a contender during the March Madness basketball tournament and emotions run high and low with the wins and losses. When they are knocked out of the tournament, a refreshing joint that is grown at home thanks to pot seeds for sale would be nice, but alas, this is not yet allowed.
Many had their first glimpse of the state when they watched the iconic movie, The Wizard of Oz, and while this is a great first experience, it has so much more to offer. The 15th largest state in the country has endless fields of corn and wheat and the tallgrass prairies remain one of its most vital assets. Adrenaline junkies love the Kansas Speedway as cars whiz by at dizzying speeds and experiencing the Evil Knievel museum and entertaining thoughts of what life would have been like if they took the daredevils path! Those that enjoy the serenity and beauty of being a green thumb are going to love the Botanica Wichita Gardens. The celebration of horticulture is year-round and many that attend fall in love with the Butterfly gardens, Koi ponds and the over 4000 species of plants. Heading to Topeka is on the list of many and they inevitably are going to stop at the State Capitol complex. The Free Dome tour is one that is not to be missed and while you are there, make sure to lobby your local representatives to enhance your ability to seek our cannabis seeds for sale and more importantly purchase these weed seeds for sale online. The Eisenhower Presidential Museum, Library and his boyhood home are located in Abilene. If you have never experienced the magnificent tallgrass prairies, then seeking out the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve is a must. It is located in the Kansas Flint Hills and offers guided and self-guided tours.
Recreational Marijuana and Smoking in Kansas
Unfortunately, at this time recreational marijuana is 100% illegal in the state. While there are many proponents for legalization in the state, thankfully the discourse is civilized being argued and fought for through the proper channels. It has not devolved into the messy situation that Bleeding Kansas was over 150 years ago when there was civil strife over an important and controversial issue to many.
Unlike all of its neighboring states, Kansas is lagging far behind when it comes to marijuana. Colorado, its neighbor to the west, is on the forefront of recreational marijuana use and should be looked to for guidance on how to proceed. However, at this point, the legislative representatives are hell-bent on staying in the past and resisting any type of progress.
Smoking or consuming marijuana for recreational purposes is going to result in a misdemeanor offence for the first time and carries a maximum fine of $1,000 and up to 6 months in jail.
Can you have Weed in your Possession in Kansas?
Just like smoking or consuming any type of marijuana flowers, simple possession is also illegal. If you are in possession of marijuana and caught by law enforcement, you will be subject to a fine and potential jail time. The fine can be up to $1,000 and jail time in the most severe circumstances will carry a six-month term. These offenses are classified as a misdemeanor. If you possess cannabis with the intent to distribute, the offence jumps to a felony and the fine can jump by as much as 100 times simple possession to $100,000. It could also have you spending as much as 42 months behind bars in the most severe case that is determined by the judicial system.
There has been a sentiment in some areas of the state to move towards decriminalization as a start. The city of Wichita voted to approve a decriminalization act in their municipality with a 54-45 vote in 2015. The Attorney General threatened to sue the city if they approved this ordinance arguing they did not have the authority to do so. He subsequently sued them when they passed it, but this did not deter them. Two years later they decided to unanimously approve a similar ordinance. Wichita is the largest population center in the state and shows that the public support is likely there. Those that enjoy cannibus can only hope that the successful programs being run in neighboring states are going to persuade their representatives to legalize marijauna for all. In the meantime, a quick jaunt over to Colorado can allow you to consume and possess to your heart’s content before returning home!
Growing Cannabis in The Jayhawker State
If you buy marijuana seeds and then proceed to grow them at home, you are going to be breaking the law. There are strict laws that carry overly harsh penalties for cultivating marijuana in the Jayhawker state. If you are growing more than 4 but less than 50 plants, you are looking at a fine of up to $300,000 and incarceration time of 46-83 months. If you are growing more than 50 but less than 100 plants, you could face a $500,000 fine and 92-144 months in prison. Lastly, if you are operating a large operation and growing more than 100 plants, the fine remains at $500,000 but carries a sentence of 138-204 months. If you were to be caught growing only one plant and then sell just one gram of it you could face between 14-51 months in prison and if it was within 1000 feet of a school zone, then it becomes a mandatory minimum of 4 years.
These draconian punishments are outdated and need to be resolved. Unfortunately, unlike many other states, there is little to no power for ordinary citizens in legislation. Residents have no power to achieve a ballot initiative, which has been the way many states have moved towards legalization. Rather, only the state legislators can propose and approve bills in the house and the senate. This has been a major stumbling block for the state as many legislators do not act on behalf of their constituents like they should. There have been a few proposals to move towards progress for the cannabis community in the last decade, but none of them have made it past the first step. The only way to make legislators listen is to vote them out at the first opportunity and demand accountability through collective voices.
What’s a Kansas Seed Bank?
While there are many, many acres devoted to agriculture in the Sunflower state, a Kansas Seed Bank has nothing to do with the state’s existing crops. A Kansas Seed Bank is a marijuana seed bank. The Kind Seed Co. has years of experience servicing the needs of the cannabis seed community. There is a wide assortment of weed seeds that are available from cbd seeds, autoflower seeds, feminized seeds, and regular seeds. It allows one to be ready at a moment’s notice when the laws change. Thankfully, marijuana seeds are able to be stored for extended periods of time. Come check out all we have to offer at Kind Seed Co and see why everyone in neighboring states have been enjoying our products already!
Can I Buy Marijuana Seeds in The America’s Heartland
Finally, there is a yes that can be shouted from the mountaintops when it comes to cannabis in Kansas. Marijuana seeds are considered an adult novelty item across all the 50 states. You can buy marijuana seeds like the wedding cake strain and not need to worry about any of those pesky fines or other punitive measures. Cannabis seeds retain their novelty status as long as they are ungerminated. Germination is when the seed is going to sprout and form a seedling which is going to continue growing to produce a plant.
You might wonder how to store your ungerminated seeds once you have purchased them through the Kind Seed Co? What a great question and a simple answer is soon to follow. There are three main tenets when storing cannabis seeds: light, temperature and humidity. You will want to keep your marijuana seeds in an environment than is approximately 42 to 46℉. A fridge is a perfect place to keep them and even better, a small fridge that can be dedicated to storage so that there are not a lot of interruptions by frequent openings and changes. Next up, you are going to want to keep your pot seeds at a relative humidity of 20-30%. The best way to achieve this within a fridge setting is going to be through sealable containers. A top tier option would be to obtain some Eppendorf tubes but if those aren’t feasible, then an airtight and opaque container can do this trick. To help with moisture levels, be sure to place silica crystals or dry rice in the container and separate the seeds from the crystals or rice with a cotton ball or paper towel. This will help ensure that any extra moisture is absorbed and does not affect your seeds. Lastly, you want to ensure that light is not getting to them. Store them in a box that will keep everything nice and dark and you are all set. To sum everything up, you want to make sure that you store your weed seeds in a cool, dry and dark environment for best results!
Medical Marijuana in Kansas
Kansas does not yet have a medical marijuana program but has made small strides as of 2018. On the 20th of April in 2018, Governor Jeff Colyer signed law SB 263 into law. This law was also known as the Alternative Crop Research Act. This allowed the Department of Agriculture to investigate the viability of industrial hemp containing less than 0.3% THC. A month later, he signed SB 282 which exempted cannabidiol, better known as CBD, from marijuana laws thus making it legal to access CBD products as long as they contained zero THC content. The next step in medical marijuana was signed by new Governor Laura Kelly in 2019 which was known as Claire and Lola’s law. This allows for an affirmative defence when using CBD with less than 5% THC. This law does allow for the arrest, charging and detainment of those found using CBD with less than 5% THC but allows them to have a defense in court. In order for this defense to be approved, you must have a letter from your doctor that states you have a debilitating condition that requires this medication. The letter must be within the last 15 months and on the doctor’s letterhead. There is no list of conditions, but it does require the condition to be one that impairs strength or function and most commonly has been used for those suffering from epilepsy.
While these are baby steps in the right direction, there is a long way to go for comprehensive medical marijuana use in the Free State. There are many people that could benefit from a progressive attitude towards medical marijuana in Kansas that are being denied this opportunity.
Buy Photo Weed Seeds and Auto Pot Seeds in The America’s Heartland
When you visit Kind Seed Co. you are going to encounter Photo weed seeds and Auto Pot Seeds. What’s the difference? The long and short of it, is how these weed seeds transition from the vegetative stage to the flowering stage.
Photo Weed Seeds refer to photoperiod cannabis seeds. These types of marijuana seeds are those that require an environmental trigger to transition from vegetating to flowering. This environmental trigger is a change in access to light. During the vegetation stage, your cannabis seeds are likely to have an 18 hour on and 6 hour off light cycle. When you are ready for the plants to start focusing their growing energy on flowering you will change the light schedule to a likely 12 on and 12 off schedule. This extra period of darkness is going to signal the plant to begin producing the sticky, glorious buds that you desire.
On the other hand, Auto Pot Seeds refer to autoflowering cannabis seeds. These seeds have been bred with a ruderalis strain that does not require any changes in lighting to signal a transition. The switch from vegetating to flowering is done based on maturity and will happen regardless if you do anything with the lighting or not. These plants typically are smaller in stature as they spend less time vegetating and enjoy a faster yield because of the shorter flowering period. What they lack in yield size, they make up for in speed and ease of growing.
Both of these pot seeds have a place in a home growing environment. Autoflower seeds are a great place for beginners to start as they require less knowledge and maintenance while the increased yields from photoperiod seeds allow for efforts to be handsomely rewarded with a plethora of trichome laden buds to enjoy!
Natural Seeds in Kansas
We have gone over photoperiod seeds and autoflower seeds previously and both of those can also apply to feminized seeds. Feminized seeds are great because they produce female plants and do not require any sexing of plants or removing males upon detection.
Natural seeds on the other hand are traditional or regular pot seeds that have a 50-50 chance of producing female or male plants. Male plants are pollinators while females are the big bud producers. If you only want to produce buds that can be consumed, then feminized seeds are the way to go. If you are looking for seeds that are going to produce further seeds for a future crop or seeds that can be used to breed strains, then you will need those male plants and thus natural seeds are for you. Think of these natural seeds as ones that are produced by nature alone and have had no genetic manipulation from humans.
Kansas and American Seeds
Those that live in Kansas know that the heartland is the heart and soul of the country. They stand for patriotism and good old fashioned American values. What better way to show that than buying American Seeds? While there are many outstanding strains that are derived from other parts of the planet, some of the best strains around are from right here in the good ol’ USA! At Kind Seed Co, we aim to provide the opportunity to buy local, homegrown American strains. Sourced from expert domestic breeders, these strains are going to live up to the billing that has made American the greatest country in the world!
Kansas Federal Judicial Districts
There is much to be accomplished in the fight for marijuana legalization. At this point, if you are caught consuming, possessing, or cultivating marijuana or marijuana related products you could find yourself in one of the judicial districts in Kansas. Whether you end up in Kansas City, Topeka or Wichita be sure that you know your rights and get the best representation possible.
5 Most Popular Cities to Grow Weed in Kansas

Wichita is the largest and most populous city in the Sunflower State. With a population of nearly 400,000 people there are bound to be many things to see and do in this great city. A city like this has loads of history and has many cultural and historic sites that lie along the Arkansas River. Those that enjoy the cutting edge of science and technology will enjoy visiting the Exploration Place Science and Discovery Center. Kansas and Wichita have thousands of years of Native American history and this is celebrated at the Mid-America All-Indian Center. While there do not forget to get a breathtaking photo memory with The Keeper of the Plains statue. Getting a feel for old town USA can be had at Old Cowtown living history museum. The newest member of the sporting family in Wichita joined the ranks in 2020. Situated at Riverfront Stadium, the Wichita Wind Surge are stoked to bring the excitement of minor league baseball to this great city. While not yet legal, once progress rolls through the state, everyone can be sure that this great city is going to be on the forefront of the marijuana growing scene.
Overland Park is the second most populous city in the state, trailing only behind Wichita. The city straddles the humid continental and subtropical climates and provides ripe growing conditions. It is home to the Edwards campus of the University of Kansas as well as satellite campuses for Baker University, Emporia State University. Green thumbs will rejoice when they visit the Overland Park Arboretum and Botanical Gardens, which boasts over 300 acres of enjoyment. Grabbing a doobie and hitting the links is a fabulous pastime in many parts of the country and hopefully can one day be enjoyed at the St. Andrews Golf Club and Sykes Lady Golf Club. Both of these courses are part of the Overland Park Golf Division and provide over 130,000 rounds of golf per year at the public courses. Those that have travelled to Overland Park for business have most likely spent an hour or more at the Overland park Convention Center. When relishing the historic downtown Overland Park, the clocktower plaza makes you feel like you are in the remake of Back to the Future before you venture over to the William B. Strang Jr. statue.
Kansas City, Kansas is not to be confused with its neighbor Kansas City, Missouri. It originally was formed as a streetcar suburb of Kansas City, Missouri and this is where the colossal confusion started. It is home to many fabulous neighborhoods, such as Argentine, Riverview, Armstrong, Bethel, Polish Hill, Muncie, Maywood, Piper, Pomeroy, Rosedale, Strawberry Hill, Tumer, Stony Point, Vinewood, Armourdale, Nearman, Wolcott, Welborn, and Fairfax District just to name a few! Those that live in these magnificent neighborhoods appreciate taking a stroll down to city park, Wyandotte County Lake Park and Big Eleven Park for some relaxation and recreation with friends and family. Many of the state’s top doctors can lay claim to having spent time here as they attended the University of Kansas Medical Center. Many have gathered at Memorial Hall for a concert, assembly or sporting event. The Rosedale Arch is a site for remembrance as it mimics the Arc de Triomphe in France as a site dedicated to those that served in WWI. Home to Children’s Mercy Park and Sporting Kansas City of the MLS, it has fans from all over the state ready to descend upon the Village West District every weekend. Last but not least, the Hollywood Casino 400 NASCAR event is held every year at the Kansas Speedway.
Olathe has a notable distinction of being home to the Kansas State School for the deaf that began operation all the way back in 1861. While the city is served by two airports in town, the Johnson County executive Airport and New Century Air Center, residents typically head out to the Kansas City International Airport when travelling around the country or the globe. When staying local, The Ernie Miller Nature Center often tops the list of places to visit in town. Olathe has topped the 100,000 population mark in recent years but many yearn for that old town feel of yesteryear. They can get a small taste of this when they visit the Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop & Farm Historic Site. Nature lovers love strolling down the trails at Heritage Park while gearheads can’t get enough of the Kansas City Automotive Museum. Having said all of that, nothing can beat getting your fresh cup of java and heading out to the Coffee Creek Trail for a leisurely stroll on a crisp autumn morning to help recharge your mind and body. This can only be rivaled by taking a puff off a phenomenal strain that is available at the Kind Seed Co.
Topeka lies along the Kansas river in northeast Kansas and is the capital city of the state. The name Topeka is a Kansa-Osage statement which means “place where we dug potatoes”! The name was chosen by the founders of the city for its novelty and Indian origin. Sports enthusiasts flock to the Kaw Valley FC games, while hockey nuts love the collisions and action at Topeka Pilots games and America’s pastime is enjoyed watching the Topeka Golden Giants. Thrill seekers are going to feel right at home observing and learning everything they can at the Evel Knievel Museum. History buffs are going to know all about the Bleeding Kansas years and will appreciate the portrait of John Brown towering over it at the Kansas State Capitol. While NASCAR does not visit Topeka for an official event, racing enthusiasts are keen to head down to Heartland Park Topeka and revel in the drag and road races that take place here. A little-known fact about Topeka is that the Topeka Zoo is the birthplace of the very first golden eagle chick that was hatched in captivity. On top of that, it is the first zoo in the United States to have an indoor rainforest!
