Green Strains: Cannabis with Green Lineage

What Are Green Seeds?

Green family seeds grow quickly, and most have a flowering time of eight to twelve weeks. They produce earthy but citrus-smelling, small to medium-sized, dense and hard green nugget buds with a potent THC content and plentiful resin. Their fruit smells range from tropical pineapple and mangoes to citrus lemon and lime. They usually have a distinct, skunky undertone and a spicy dry toke reminiscent of black pepper and clove. Green strains are known for their uplifting and energetic yet relaxing highs. Second generation Hybrids will often have names with fruit in them, or the word Crack to denote their Green family connections. Medicinally, they’re ideal for people who suffer from depression and PTSD thanks to their uplifting and optimistic effects. Many of the Sativa-dominant members of the family are much loved by wake-and-bake enthusiasts, who appreciate the powerful yet clear-headed high these strains provide. This family is also ideal for folks who suffer from a loss of appetite due to nausea. More Indica dominant varieties are often deployed against physical pain too, especially muscle cramps and fibromyalgia. Members of the Green family produce flowers with between twenty and twenty-six percent THC. Their CBD content will often depend on the specific strain. This family does well in most environments and can grow indoors, outdoors, or in greenhouses. They dislike too much moisture, and love having extra phosphorus just before they flower. Where Do Green Cannabis Seeds Come From?

The Green family comes from a couple of sisters who are offshoots of the much larger Skunk family. The Skunks are one of the largest and most widely known family of cannabis genes to make up the modern hybrid landscape, along with the Hazes and the Kushes. Skunk is an original strain from the seventies bred by Sam the Skunkman in California. Skunk 1 was apparently bred using a combination of Columbia Gold and Acapulco Gold with Afghani. When Sam moved from California to Amsterdam, Nevil Schoenmakers of The Seed Bank in Holland began stocking Skunk 1 in his shop. Access to seeds of this strain allowed other growers to cross it with other plants, creating a host of other hybrids. Green Crack is the result of Skunk 1 crossed with either itself or possibly Afghani or Hindu Kush, depending on who you talk to. It was likely first bred by Cecli C. in Athens, Ohio in 1990. Originally known as Green Cush, it was apocryphally renamed Green Crack by none other than Snoop Dog. He redubbed it due to its potent energizing nature and his interest in compulsively smoking it thereafter. Green Poison’s origins are even more mysterious, coming from an unknown Spanish breeder. However, it’s popularly believed to also be an offshoot of the Skunk family, though it has more Indica attributes. Between them, these two have produced an entire battalion of hybrids. Kind Seed Co has some of the best genes from this ever-growing family, and they can be yours in as little as a couple days if you place your order today!

Seed Storage Of Green Cannabis Seeds

Seeds react to being in bright light, in warm surroundings, and having excess moisture around them. The presence of any one of those can cause your seeds to interrupt their dormancy and begin to sprout. In order to keep your Green seeds safe, keep them dry and cool and out of the light. For short term storage, it’s fine to keep seeds in a plastic bag or small paper envelope in a cupboard or drawer. Make sure not to put anything directly on top of them, as crushing seeds will crack their casing. For longer term storage, it’s a good idea to keep your seeds somewhere very cool and dry. Between eight and nine percent relative humidity and below fifty-five degrees Fahrenheit is perfect. Don’t freeze them, as freezing can cause their casings to rupture and the genetic material in the seed will die. Keep seeds in your fridge only if you keep them in a waterproof container in a space with low humidity, like the door or crisper. Keeping seeds out of bright, direct light will also ensure they don’t accidentally sprout. Those three concerns will go a long way to making sure your seeds stay viable for a long time. After that, it’s about keeping your seeds clean and free from contamination, so never handle your seeds with bare hands, especially dirty ones. Using clean gloves or tweezers will ensure they don’t harbor any harmful bacteria. Kind Seed Co wants to make sure every crop is a success.

Germinating Green Seeds

Green Crack and its relatives have high germination rates when germinated using the soaking and paper towel method. All it takes is some distilled pH neutral water, some clean and fresh paper towels, a few dinner plates and some tweezers. First, make sure your hands, tweezers, and the plates are totally clean. Fill a glass with distilled water and soak the seeds for 14–24 hours. Next, get a paper towel wet with the distilled water and make sure to drain off any excess water before leaving them to sprout. Note that there is a delicate balance here between putting too much water on the paper towel and not enough. To check, place the paper towel on the plate for a moment and then lift it off. If it leaves puddles, it’s too wet. Put the paper towel on the plate and space the seeds out using the tweezers so they’re at least an inch away from one another. Cover them with another wet paper towel. Store this in a warm, dark place that doesn’t drop below seventy-two degrees. Check your seeds every few hours, rehydrating them when needed. In 1 to 7 days your seeds should start to germinate. Wait until the sprouts are at least a quarter of an inch long before transferring them into a growing medium of your choosing. This easy, simple and effective method is a great way to approach germination of your seeds.

Growing Green Cannabis Plants

Green strains can grow in a wide range of environments, from temperate spaces to warm and dry climates. They do well indoors, outdoors, and in greenhouses. Original Green Crack and Green Poison strongly dislike moisture and are susceptible to mildew. They love growing outdoors in Mediterranean climates, where they’re able to stay dry and get very tall. There are many members of the Green family who are crossed with autoflowering plants and hardier Indicas, which make growing these beauties in humid climates much easier. This is quite a large family, with input from all over the rest of the cannabis world. Green family plants generally produce medium to tall plants, anywhere from three or four feet with Indica dominant and autoflowering varieties and to up to eight feet tall photoperiod plants. If they’re grown somewhere, they can really stretch out and soak up sun and nutrients. Buds generally grow on multiple branches and are thick, sometimes tall and spiraling. These plants also do very well in horizontal growing environments, such as tables where many small plants are flowered early to create large bud colas. Give your Green plants some extra phosphorus just before they flower to increase the thickness of their buds. Calcium deficiency is common in those grown outside. Copper and iron can also be a problem for green strains. When you buy from Kind Seed Co, we give you all the information you need to grow a successful crop. Check out our selection of autoflowering and photoperiod Green seeds to see which ones suit you best!

Growing Flowers From Green Seeds Indoors

Many Indica dominant members of the Green family thrive indoors. Sativa-dominant Green family plants might need topping after about three week. Topping involves cutting off the tallest growth on the plant once or several times. This causes other, lower down branches to shoot up and results in multiple large colas. It’s not recommended that autoflowering plants be topped more than once due to their very short growing time. It’s suggested that growers use more Indica varieties indoors to prevent running out of space or having to move the lights, since the Sativa varieties will get very tall very fast, particularly in the early flowering stage. Plants in this family will benefit from a lot of nitrogen during vegetation, followed by an extra dose of calcium and magnesium just as they switch from vegetating to flowering. Phosphorus is another nutrient that this plant loves to get earlier than other varieties. Keeping humidity down is advised for this plant, especially the Sativas who thoroughly dislike it. Growing these plants using a Sea or Screen of Green is also recommended. Both of these techniques use more horizontal growing space rather than vertical, gathering many plants together or causing a few plants to spread out laterally instead of growing up. The Sea of Green crowds together many interlocking plants and flips them to flower early in order to focus their growth on large colas. The Screen of Green uses a mesh screen to spread growth horizontally while isolating buds to grow in full light above. Get some Green Poison descended seeds from Kind Seed Co today!

Growing Cannabis Flower Outdoors From Green Seed

Kind Seed Co carries over eleven hundred different kinds of seeds that are suitable for a wide range of growing situations. Growing green strains outside can give them the kind of space they need to get huge. Especially when growing seeds in organic living soil, healthy taproots can ensure that these plants reach their full potential. Protect them from excess moisture and humidity whenever possible, especially the original photoperiod Green Crack and Poison, both of which are susceptible to molds. Depending on the specific strain, it can be wise to trellis them for support. Staking the budding branches of smaller plants can help them to grow larger colas. Keep an eye on the phosphorus levels of this plant just before it flowers, as they will want extra. These plants can also suffer from a lack of calcium when grown outdoors. Growing this variety in a greenhouse can have tremendous advantages, as growers are able to keep it out of the way of rainfall while still supporting its tallest growth. Companion planting this variety with a mixture of food crops and aromatic herbs can go a long way to disguise a couple of tall plants in your backyard. Surrounding your plants in corn, squash, and beans, intermingling cannabis and tomato plants, and surrounding the whole thing in a layer of aromatic herbs will help prevent insect and animal herbivory and camouflage the plants. Putting a small gate or chicken wire fence can help to deter thieves of both the human and non-human varieties. Buy your seeds today!

Typical Aroma Of Green Cannabis Buds

Green plants begin producing smells, with very traditional skunk notes, just as buds are beginning to show up. The skunk aromas are often accompanied by fresh pine that becomes stronger and more astringent as the flowers grow. Both pinene and terpinolene can show up in this plant in abundance, which can cause their early growth to smell pungent and traditionally pot-like. Near the end of their flowering period, the danker parts of the skunk aromas will begin to shift into something more woody and complex. Of course, this all depends on which variety you’re growing, as different crosses will have radically different smells. However, something that most Green strains have in common is their mix of earthy and citrus smells, which are more pronounced after curing. The three main terpenes that are found in abundance in Green strains are myrcene, limonene, and caryophyllene. Once the buds are dried and cured, the lighter and fruitier notes of the buds take over. While the smell is still predominantly sour, it’s twinged with sweet and fruity notes. Plants descended from Green Poison will have sweet, coniferous, and more floral aromas, while Green Crack descendants tend towards the fruitier, more citrus side of the spectrum. Both sides of the family mix their higher notes with a complicated funk thanks to myrcene and caryophyllene. That funk is somewhat indescribable and dank at first. Busted up, it starts to become woodier as the bud’s smell gets aerosolized. These and many other seeds that grow the dankest of nugs are available 24/7 on Kind Seed Co's website.

Harvesting Time When Growing Green Strains

Strains in this family will take anywhere from eight to twelve weeks to flower, depending on the specific strain. The diversity of this family means that eight to twelve weeks is just an average and not a hard and fast rule. If you want larger yields and more robust flowers, it’s wise to let your plants take their time to develop. This family has a wide range of fast-flowering and autoflowering strains that can get growers a good yield in no time, but there are instances of some green-related plants being given a few months to get massive and gorgeous hauls. It’s wise to always read the strain guide for your individual seeds and plan accordingly. Due to the diversity in this family, each one will grow a little differently. The sure fire way to tell whether your plants are ready to harvest will be to watch their trichomes carefully using a jeweler's loupe or very powerful magnifying glass. Trichomes start out their lives clear, turning milky as their resin releases. As the plant gets older, the resin changes to a golden honey color. You’ll know that your crop is at its most potent THC-wise when roughly three-quarters of trichomes on any given flower are white, with just a few clear and amber ones. You’re in THC town with Kind Seed Co!

What Yield Can You Get From Green Plants

Yields of Green plants can be anywhere from three hundred and fifty grams per plant to more than seven hundred grams per square meter. Some Green strains can get tall, providing up to six hundred grams per plant when they’ve been given nutritional support and sunny weather. Others are fast flowering, and do exceptionally well in horizontal growing situations that pack a lot of plants into a hydroponics table. When it’s time to harvest your crops, it will be important to figure out what kind of trimming is best for your yield. Dry trimming is considered the gold standard, but isn’t always the wisest choice if buds are in danger of rotting. When harvesting Green plants, it’s especially important to cover one’s hands. High resin plants like these leave plenty of sticky stuff behind while being cut down. The buildup of resin on the hands can lead to difficulty working. Sticky plants will collect any hair or human skin oils they’re exposed to, and will leave trimmers smelling of dank. It’s also smart to have at least two pairs of comfortable sheers and manicuring scissors to work with throughout the trimming process. Buildups of resin on cutting tools will make great scissor hash that can provide an opportunity to sample your crop. The frequent interruptions in work to clean sticky scissors can be minimized by leaving a pair to soak in rubbing alcohol while continuing work with the backups. Work smarter, not harder, right? Kind Seed Co has all the best products and information to make your harvest a cinch.

Are Green Buds High in THC?

Many Green strains are considered dank chronic by high THC enthusiasts. Many strains with the Green name are bred for their potency, and are mixed with even more resinous Indicas. Skywalker Ghost Kush for example, has been known to get up to twenty-six percent THC. Many Green strains are used for making concentrates due to their citrus and tropical yet woody and complex flavors. THC, which stands for tetrahydrocannabinol, is so far the only cannabinoid discovered that’s responsible for the stoned effects most people associate with cannabinoids. In effect, there are up to one hundred cannabinoids in weed plants that interact with a system in our bodies called the endocannabinoid system. This system helps to regulate feelings of hunger, stress, pleasure, pain, and sleepiness in the body. Most of the THC in cannabis plants is produced in the resin of the plant’s flowers. This sticky substance is made by the trichomes on the surface of the buds, in an attempt to trap wind dispersed cannabis pollen. When this substance is produced in abundance, the weed is much stronger. This resin is also the home of most of the terpenes in a cannabis plant, which is why they smell so much more once the plants begin to flower. Green buds are high in caryophyllene, myrcene, and limonene, with ocimene, pinene, and fenchol as secondary terpenes. Kind Seed Co has even more potent, high THC seeds right here on our website.

Typical Effects of Smoking Green

Many of the Green family are high THC plants with uplifting and energetic effects. More Indica dominant Hybrid varieties will bring deeper relaxation and less sparkle than some of the more Sativa dominant ones. Most Greens are known for their inspiring effects that blast away depression and help users with low motivation get out of bed and face the day. Most strains of this family are incredibly clear-headed and cerebral in effect, at least at first. The original Green Crack's effects lasts around two to three hours. Some of the more Indica dominant varieties, like Green Do Si Dos, can have a longer and heavier effect that increases the appetite and helps users relax at the end of the day. These strains are often recommended for people who have lost their appetites due to nausea or psychosomatic reasons. The more relaxing and sedative effects of the Indica parts of the family are also recommended for fighting insomnia and anxiety. The Sativa part of the family, while incredible at erasing low moods, is not as good at battling insomnia, anxiety, and lack of appetite. Some users suggest that Green Crack and its offspring could be wonderful substitutes for morning coffees. Green Poison and its offshoots are more frequently recommended for afternoon and evening smoking, when users are looking for something to ease their pain to get a good night’s sleep. Both sides of the family are very popular recreational strains due to their uplifting and euphoria. Kind Seed Co has descendants from both sides for sale, right here!

Typical Flavors of Green Family Strains

The flavor profile of a lot of these strains will depend on whether they’re an offshoot of Green Crack or Green Poison. It can be difficult to anticipate the flavor of these strains by their smells alone. This family has a lot of fruit flavors, especially of the citrus and tropical varieties. Green Crack is the more sour of the two, while Green Poison tends to lean towards more sweet and floral tastes. Both matriarchs of this family have a little bit of the other in them, with sweet the secondary characteristic of Green Crack, and sour the secondary of Green Poison. There is always a wood and spice center in this family, which starts during the dry toke but really takes off as the flower is lit. This is the effect of Skunk notes maturing into woods and herbs as the buds are cured. Common tastes include black pepper, lemongrass, soil, sandalwood, and citronella. This is typical of some of the more convoluted Hybrids, which are often three or four generations removed from the original two strains. However, many of the most successful and obvious Green family offshoots capitalize on their fruit flavors. They’re mixed with other fruity strains and end up being veritable cornucopias with names like Pineapple or Banana Crack, or Lemon Mango OG to name a few. Kind Seed Co has got those and so many more, our website is basically a fruit salad! Check them all out!

Baking and Making Edibles With Green Buds

Kind Seed Co loves helping first-time bakers figure out how to get even more use from all our over eleven hundred varieties of fabulous seeds. When baking with high potency cannabis like Green Family strains, it’s important to make sure the infusion is even. A butter-making method that uses water as an intermediary between the fat and the cannabis without grinding the actual flower into a baked good is an excellent way to avoid an uneven infusion while also getting a tastier, less bitter snack. Making treats like chocolate and gummies that involve a period where the batter is a liquid will also help to keep the infusion even. Gummies, for example, are a popular ingestion method partially because they are much easier to control the dosage during their manufacture. This is as opposed to something like a croissant or a granola bar, that would end up having places where there was more infusion and places where there’s less. Green family buds do very well in citrus-themed baked goods and gummies, and in cannabis-infused beverages. Its combination of sweet, sour, fruity, and citrus flavors lends themselves easily to candy edibles. When creating edibles for morning ingestion, it’s wise to use Green Crack and the associated Sativa-heavy parts of the family tree. These are more sour and lemony than the Green Poison section of the family, and could do very well in orange-flavored pastries and chocolate. This can help you to re-dose discretely throughout the day, just be careful you don’t make things too tasty!

Is It Worth It To Make Green Cannabis Oil?

The answer to whether or not it’s worth it to make cannabis oil yourself will depend on how often you’re likely to use it, what kind of oil you’re referring to, and whether you have the tools to make it. If you’re talking about making smokable hash oil or RSO that’s both edible and smokeable, it’s advisable to leave it to someone who has done it before. Doing alcohol extraction at home is illegal in a lot of places and can be very dangerous if you don’t follow the directions precisely. Edible oil is readily available in Green Crack, God’s Green Crack, and many other Green strains thanks to its consistently delicious flavors. A coconut oil infusion can be easily made by first decarboxylating the cannabis at two hundred and thirty degrees for around half an hour. Using a candy thermometer, make sure the temperature stays steady and never exceeds two hundred and forty-five degrees. Strain out the pieces of cannabis leftover and then use the oil quickly, as it may only stay good for a short period even if it’s stored in the fridge. Depending on the specific strain of the Green family, different terpenes will come out in the oil. Start your own oil company with top-notch genetics from Kind Seed Co!

What To Expect When Smoking And Vaping Green Concentrates

Green strains are known for their energetic effects, their ability to relax anxious and troubled minds, their high THC potency, and their potential to produce a creeping onset. While most Green concentrate experiences replicate those effects, the more Indica-dominant varieties can have more couchlock and intense body high feelings as opposed to the originals, Green Crack and Green Poison. Some strains, like Skywalker Ghost or Alien Primate, have such a high amount of THC and an inclusion of Indica genes that the mix of effects will be totally different. When smoking or vaping concentrates, it’s also likely that the effects will hit stronger due to the more high-potency nature of the products. While these strains generally have a very clear-headed and motivational come up, it can be made more disorienting and psychedelic by ingesting a lot at once. If you’re vaping these concentrates, a very fun and rewarding thing to do is to slowly increase the temperature from low to high to experience the range of terpenes in the strain. Most Green strains are very high in caryophyllene, limonene, and myrcene. These three terpenes are responsible for the tropical and citrus fruit flavors of this strain that are mixed with the dank, musky, and occasional straight-up skunk odors. Secondary terpenes will largely depend on the specific strain and what crosses are involved. That’s why Kind Seed Co always makes sure to provide you with all the information and a wide selection to make a choice from.

Kind Seed Co Green Suggestions

The Green Family can be pretty diverse, they’re not all just descended from Green Crack but also come from other Skunk genes. Here’s a list of our favorites. Green Crack Autoflower seeds are even easier to grow than their photoperiod siblings. They don’t need any lighting switches to produce up to 600g per plant in just seven to nine weeks with 20% THC and less than one percent CBD in their frosted buds. Green Poison seeds are ideal for Indica users who still want some Green energy. With 20% THC and less than one percent CBD, these seeds can get you 650 to 800 grams of ganja! The Green Crack strain is the mother of most Green strains. It carries up to twenty-five percent THC and less than one percent CBD. It can grow 650–800 grams per thick, tall, outdoor plant in nine to eleven weeks. It’s known for its motivational high and perfect flavor for concentrate production. Screaming Green Alien Primate, also known as Alien Primate Glue, is an Indica with twenty-five percent THC and less than one percent CBD. It can grow between 650 and 800 grams per plant in nine to eleven weeks. Keep checking our website, we’re always adding new strains to our over eleven hundred strain inventory!
