Cannabis Seeds For Sale in ON
Buying cannabis seed in Ontario is easy can be done in person at licensed cannabis stores or online through souvenir seed shops like Kind Seed Co. Our biased opinion is to buy weed seeds from an online seed bank that takes the best precautions with their inventory and keeps the marijuana seed stable at a constant temperature. Retail stores often allow clients to handle the pot seeds and experience temperature changes, movement and generally less than ideal conditions for your home grow genetics. Online stores often offer a germination guarantee and freebees, so there are hard decisions for local growers to make when choosing where to buy weed seeds.
Choosing Marijuana Seeds In Ontario
Buying marijuana seeds from your favourite vendor is only part of the decision-making process. Next you will need to choose the strain(s) that are best suited for your grow room and climate. You will want to consider the height and space required for the plants to maximize your potential harvest without overcrowding and finding out halfway into the cycle that you do not have the space. Don’t forget to research your strains to get the right combination of indica, sativa or hybrid to meet your personal preference of the finished cannabis flowers. Each type has some notable characteristics and likely you will have a preference once you become an experienced cannabis user. Source Affordable Seeds Ontario
As the weed seed market in Canada continues to expand, it can be difficult to determine the quality of the products you're buying online. Price is a natural consideration in that process, but not all cheap seeds are quality seeds. Ultimately, you might end up paying more in the long-term because of unreliable seeds, failed germination, increased risk of diseases, and other frequent reasons for re-orders.
Our emphasis on value for cannabis cultivators also extends to our payment processing. Our e-transfer option works similarly to online apps like Venmo, allowing you to send money using only your email address. That agreement counts as purchase confirmation, which kicks off the next-business-day shipping window for your seeds. We also accept credit card (in USD), cash and check by mail and crypto like Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash or Dogecoin. Paying for your order has never been easier when you choose to shop at kindseed.com.
The Best Time of Year to Grow Cannabis Outdoors in Ontario
You can hardly wait: your seeds are finally arriving, and you're starting or expanding your own collection of cannabis strains. But don't just plant them at any time. Hitting the growing season at just the right time is vital to making sure that those seeds germinate, flower, and ultimately yield exactly what you're looking for.
As is the case in every region, the weed-growing season in Ontario is affected largely by its climate. Located in Central Canada, the local habitat is affected by three air sources:
- Cold and dry arctic air from the north
- Pacific polar air crossing in from the western Canadian Prairies and U.S. Northern Plains
- Warm, moist air from the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean
These air sources and the resulting climate slightly change the growing season for different regions in Ontario.
In and around Toronto, the time between May and Early October works especially well thanks to mild low temperatures without the fear of bud rot, combined with prime growing high temperatures in the middle of that window. The northern parts of Ontario, like Deer Lake, have a shorter growing season that typically lasts from June to September before the weather gets too cold to grow cannabis outdoors.
This tight growing season window means that cultivators should plant their marijuana seedlings outside from May to early June. However, it makes sense to begin the seed germination process before that time, starting seedlings indoors in a more controlled environment to build strength and resistance first.
Harvesting occurs approximately 50 to 75 days after the cannabis plant begins to flower. But don't harvest the plant before it's ready; using a jewelers loupe inspect the trichomes for an amber hue and wait until the leaves start to yellow or curl.
Growing Cannabis Indoors from Seed
Cultivators with the ability and equipment to grow marijuana indoors face a major advantage. They're able to set the harvest on their own schedule, potentially beating the outdoor crops sold by most growers and getting a better rate in return before the supply of pot or CBD drops the market price.
That's because, in the right environment, cannabis can grow year round in a controlled environment. This controlled environment also results in more potent and higher yields, thanks to equipment that simulates just the right temperatures and lighting for optimum growth.
A few core pieces of equipment can help you build that controlled environment to achieve more consistent, faster growth and yield:
- A grow tent that allows you to create a dedicated space for your cannabis while maintaining set levels in temperature, humidity, air circulation, and more.
- Indoor soil with a pH level between 6 and 6.5 along with the right concentration of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, as well as calcium, manganese, iron, copper, and sulphur.
- Humidity control equipment, usually in the form of a humidifier and dehumidifier. Ideal humidity levels are 65% for seedlings, which lowers by about 5% every week to around 40% in the final weeks.
- Fans to ensure air circulation and prevent stale, stagnant air that could result in mold and other diseases harmful to your seedlings and weed plants.
- Growth lights that imitate natural light, ideally with a timer that gets your plants on a regular schedule needed to stimulate growth.
- A thermometer and hygrometer that can measure the air temperature and humidity in your growing environment to keep the consistency or adjust your other equipment as needed.
Unlike outdoor growing, cultivating your weed seeds indoors also allows you to take advantage of automations that are specifically designed to improve your growth and produce higher yields. Two of these examples are hydroponics and aeroponics:
- Hydroponics describes the process of growing plants in a water-based nutrient solution rather than soil. First developed for use in outer space, it can be immensely successful for cannabis plants as well, thanks to the nutrient-rich environment allowing the seedlings to grow up to 50% faster and provide larger yields.
- Aeroponics describes the process of growing plants in an air-based environment, without the use of either soil or a water-based nutrient solution. The extra oxygen provided by this freedom allows the cannabis plant to grow faster while using 95% less irrigation than traditional soil-grown plants. It also allows you to grow more plants in a smaller location, while the nutrients applied directly to the root result in larger, healthier buds.
The Best Fertilizer for Growing Marijuana Outside in Ontario
Nutrients play an absolutely crucial role in growing healthy cannabis plants and harvesting the best possible buds. That means, if you plan to grow weed outside in Ontario, you'll need to pay specific attention to the fertilizer you use to get those nutrients to your plants.
Ontario is dominated by five types of soil:
- Organic soil occurs primarily in the northern part of the province, covering approximately 300 miles south of the coastline. It's rich in nutrients like peat and carbon, remaining sufficiently moist throughout the year.
- Brunisolic soil covers the western part of the province as well as north of Toronto and south of Ottawa. This forested soil is relatively acidic and not rich in nutrients, requiring sufficient fertilizer for consistent growth.
- Cryosolic soil is primarily present in the northwestern part of the province in the tundra and arctic regions of Ontario. It is low in nutrients like nitrogen, potassium, and phosphorus, and will require fertilizer supplementation for growth.
- Podzolic soil occurs largely in the center-south of the province, close to Lake Superior. It is highly acidic, but its accumulation of composted forest matter can make it relatively rich in nutrients.
- Luvisolic soil is especially common south of Toronto but also appears in the center of Ontario. It is low in both nutrients and acidity, requiring significant regulation through fertilizer to successfully and reliably grow cannabis plants.
Look for fertilizers that both make sense with these soil types and with the type of plant you're growing. Nitrogen, potassium, and phosphorus are especially vital nutrients to look out for, and they're typically labeled as NPK on a fertilizer package. The number next to each initial denotes the intensity of each nutrient, with a higher number indicating a higher proportion.
In the early stages, cannabis plants will require higher nitrogen levels, especially in soils deficient in nutrients, like luvisolic and cryosolic soils. A fertilizer with a high concentration of nitrogen (like a fertilizer indicating 3:1:1 for its NPK score) is the best choice. During the flowering stage, potassium becomes a more important nutrient, changing the choice of fertilizer to an ideal ratio of 5:10:7.
Pay attention to micronutrients, as well. Boron, Copper, Iron, Zinc, Chlorine, and Nickel all need to be in the right balance for your cannabis plants to grow. Test your soil for its nutrient level, then look for fertilizer specifically designed to add these nutrients to the mix.
Finally, avoid using fertilizer designed for indoor use in outdoor applications. Organic fertilizers tend to work best outdoors because they integrate better, lowering the risk of upsetting the existing ecosystem. Organic fertilization options include worm casting, blood meal, fish meal, or bat guano for nitrogen; wood ash or keep meal for potassium; and bone meal or rock dust for phosphorus.
