Mexican Red Hair Autoflower Seeds
Mexican Red Hair is a legendary strain descended from high-quality landraces. Previously a descriptive term used in the 1980s to distinguish high quality sinsemilla coming from Columbia, Mexico, and California. The dry schwag brick weed prevalent in the southern parts of America at the time, Mexican Red Hair, was synonymous with top-notch ganja. It’s highly resistant to pests and mold, and only grows to around three to four feet tall. The buds are a gorgeous dark green, looking every bit the part of a tropical flower with their abundant red hairs, dew drops of dark resin, and occasional pops of dark blue or purple in its curling calyxes. With 18-20% THC and < 1% CBD, this Sativa dominant hybrid can give indoor growers more than a pound per square meter in 8-10 weeks. It can tolerate cooler climates thanks to its ruderalis genes and does well anywhere that has a sunny summer. Where these plants really shine is outdoors in warm and bright Mediterranean climates, like California, where they can stretch. The high on this plant is uplifting and focusing, perfect for motivation and bad mood-busting. It’s also used for migraines and chronic pain associated with inflammation.
Small business growers looking to fill out a modest growing room would be wise to buy Mexico Red Hair in our always popular 100 Autoflower Mixed Pack. Kind Seed Co loves helping entrepreneurs and medical green houses customize their selection for discerning customers. Our 100 Autoflower Mixed Pack allows them to select up to ten different strains to try out.
How to Germinate Mexican Red Hair Auto Fem Seeds
Mexican Red Hair seeds will germinate most reliably using a method involving paper towel, distilled water, tweezers or gloves, a plate and a warm dark place. To start, get a small glass of distilled water and soak the seeds for 14–24 hours. After soaking the seeds, wet the paper towel and put it on a plate, folding it in half. Make sure the paper towel is not sopping wet. If the towel is sopping wet, it will inhibit germination, wring out excess moisture if needed. Wear a clean glove or gently use tweezers to prevent getting any skin oils, germs, or spores from getting on the towel or the seeds. When the paper towel is at the right wetness, place your seeds on the paper towel, leaving at least an inch of space between each seed to prevent the roots from tangling. Cover the seeds with another similarly moistened paper towel. Place the plate with the covered seeds in a warm dark place for up to 7 days or until the roots reach approximately 1/4 to 1/2 an inch in length. Make sure to check on your seeds every few hours to see if things are going alright and that the paper towel stays moist. After soaking and germinating on the paper towel, a sprout should have cracked the seed casing, appearing as a little white tail coming out of the seed. Keep the paper towels moist and let the sprout grow in the warm dark space, until it is about a quarter to a half inch in length. Carefully transplant this seed into the growing medium of your choice. The seedling should shoot up and then begin to grow true leaves and roots. If your plant gets too leggy, consider adding more blue light to the seedling tent.
Growing Mexico Red Hair From Seed From Seed At Home
Once your seedlings have a nice strong stalk and at least two pairs of true cannabis-looking leaves, it’s time to get them into the vegetative state. Autoflowering plants hate being transferred, so if you can manage to pop the little seedlings into a larger pot without disturbing them too much, that’s ideal. This autoflowering variety won’t get as tall as the fabled six-foot photoperiod plants, and can do well in a growing room provided the lights are adjustable for height. There are three phenotypes of this plant, two tall ones and a shorter, bushier version. When exposed to warm, sunny climates, these autoflowering seeds can grow plants between three and four feet tall. Plants of this strain are also fine with quite chilly temperatures, between seventy-five and sixty-five degrees. They can handle getting down to fifty-five degrees at night, which may prepare them for cold shocks later in life that bring out their gorgeous dark anthocyanin hues. These plants do well in a Screen of Green, where foliage is suppressed by a mesh screen in order to help bud sites be more evenly exposed to light. When grown in an abundance of full-spectrum light, and using a nutritious substrate of living soil, Mexico Red Hair can produce more than a pound indoors per square meter. If you’re in California, growing this variety can be very rewarding. Skilled organic growers can get up to the higher end of 50-200g per plant when growing outdoors in living soil with additions of perlite and coco coir. Remember that autoflowers like being fed less than photoperiod plants, but Sativas need that food to get tall and produce beautiful and delicious yields.
Flowering Time For Red Mexican Hair Autoflower
It takes roughly 8–10 weeks for these plants to flower, and they do best when they’re not rushed into a harvest. Autoflowering plants start to bloom on their own time and require no lighting change. Fertilizers should be higher in potassium and phosphorus during thr flowering period, and always remember that autoflower plants need less food than photoperiod plants do. Whenever in doubt, start slow and low. While pest and mold resistant, they prefer drier environments, especially during flowering. Keep the airflow high and humidity low, keeping the relative humidity at around fifty percent during vegetation down to the low forties during flowering. This strain is known for its distinct deep auburn pistil hairs that grow in abundance all over the bud. Buds are dark forest green, long, and curly. Flowers can appear fluffy from a distance thanks to their spindly calyxes and the aforementioned hairs. Up close, the buds are often covered in obvious drops of resin. They look much more like tropical hothouse flowers when compared to the highly manicured nugget crops that many American consumers have gotten used to over the years. Shocking these plants with nighttime temperatures in the fifties or sixties during the flushing phase can bring out blue and purple colors in the flowers. It’s also possible to lollipop these plants around four weeks into flowering, by defoliating much of the bud sites and flowers under a certain level to increase energy and focus on higher up, larger buds. Inflorescences grow on branches like tall cones, spitting out plentiful sugar leaves.
What Makes Mexican Hair Strain Popular?
Mexican Hair is a classic strain from the seventies and eighties that older smokers in the southern states will remember fondly from their youths. Back then, the term Mexican or Columbian Red Hair was more of a descriptor than a strict set of genetics as we know them today. Red-haired varieties came from Southern Mexico and Latin America, and their abundant and colorful pistil hairs were used to distinguish them from lower-quality cannabis. Original Mexican Red Hair was a set of Oaxacan, Michoacan, and Sinaloan genes that are still grown in Mexico to this day. Some older weed smokers associate Mexican genes with brick weed, which is a slang term for shake and low-quality cannabis that was pressed into bricks to be shipped across the border in the seventies and eighties. We might refer to brick weed as schwag today. However, these genes were the same ones used to make the original sinsemilla in California in the seventies. When mixed with South Asian mountain Indicas, these high-quality Mexican Sativa genes basically created California cannabis culture in the twentieth century. The Skunk, Haze, AK47, Gold, Sour, and Diesel lines all come from these landraces. Other varieties that used to be known as Mexican Red Hairs included the Oaxacan Highlands and Columbian Red, both some of the rarest strains in the world right now. Nowadays, Mexican Red Hair is a seventy-thirty Sativa that users love for its motivational high and sophisticated smoke aromas. The smell of sandalwood pairs deliciously with its earthy, fruity, lemon and pine flavors. It’s famous as an active but relaxing sativa, and a rare find at dispensaries.
Fragrance, and Flavors of Mexican Red Hair Auto Fem
It takes a while for the scent of these plants to build up enough to be noticeable. When they do, the fragrance is classically earthy, with hints of fruit, lemon and pine. Plants of this strain can smell quite skunky near the end of their growing cycle, with a pungent depth that matches the rich soil it does best in. The drying and curing process lightens this smell and does away with some of the more disagreeable and sharp pongs. Cured buds smell closer to a lumberyard or a room full of woody incense, with higher and more acidic notes wafting as the scent dries down thanks to terpinolene. The grinder brings out the spiciness of caryophyllene in the buds, with a more fermented and sour smelling dank underneath courtesy of musky b-myrcene. The smell of anise is also vaguely present, as well as hints of sweetness. A toke gives hints of the former skunkiness, but with a rounder and more herbal silage. The first inhale is deliciously lemony, full of light and fruity limonene. Despite its citrus flavor, the smoke is quite smooth and not sour, with deep incense wood undertones that make it taste more like a lemon black tea than a dose of lime juice. Classic phenotypes of this strain are said to taste like pineapple and smell like sandalwood. Like partaking in organically grown tobacco, a peppery and woody scent fills the room with its incense-like smoke. Notes of diesel, lemon, and mint stick to the lips and tip of the tongue upon exhaling. The aftertaste is a combination of camphor and light tropical fruits that could be sold as a sophisticated cologne. This strain is anything but sour.
Effects of Mexico Red Hair Autoflower
The first effect is pressure in the eyes and temples. This strain can be a little bit of a creeper, but you’ll know it’s hitting when your thoughts start to come quickly and easily, bouncing off one another in a cascade of jokes and novel thoughts. This is a good weed for making drab chores seem interesting, or holding focus when reading or completing a laborious project. As a seventy-thirty Sativa dominant hybrid, this is a talkative and energetic high. There’s a lot of motivation and focus with the strain, but it’s uplifting and optimistic, not fidgety and anxious. Happiness is vastly increased, especially in the beginning when it’s giggly and sociable. This is an ideal strain for people who are prone to anxiety and paranoia from cannabis, as there is very little of that here. It’s also appropriate for first timers who want to experience something truly potent without worrying about a lot of side effects. It’s ideal for helping people with ADHD focus on tasks. Mexican Red Hair Auto is also rather helpful for people who have lost their appetite due to nausea, or for more psychosomatic reasons. Depression, fatigue, stress, and low mood are vaporized by Mexico Red Hair’s fresh and fragrant smoke. It’s frequently used to combat PMS, PTSD, headaches, migraines and chronic pain. As the high wears on, a hazy, relaxing, and pleased vibe takes over, and it’s easy to get lost in sensation and textures. It can be a fabulous daytime strain and might be too energetic for nighttime use, at least immediately before bed. At the end of the high, the thirty percent indica genes kick in and often end up putting users to sleep. It’s not soporific, just peaceful, and it will only send you to dreamland if that’s where you’re already headed.
Overview of Red Mexican Hair Auto Fem Stats
Mexican Red Hair is a Sativa hybrid autoflowering variety that can grow buds with between eighteen and twenty percent THC and less than 1% CBD. Previously just a term to distinguish high quality dank from low quality schwag in the 1980s, Mexican Red Hair is now a bonafide strain. The plants don’t get quite as tall as the photoperiod variety, but they’re also much easier to take care of. This plant loves dry and sunny Mediterranean climates where it can stretch out in organic living soil and produce up to two hundred grams of beautiful buds per plant. This strain will also flourish in a Screen of Green, where indoor plants have their canopies tamped down by a mesh screen, allowing bud sites to poke through and be more fully exposed to lights. Indoors, this strain can grow up to six hundred and fifty grams per meter squared, making it a heavy yielder for an autoflowering plant. They won’t stink right away like some varieties, but when they do, it’s that classic skunk dank. Buds themselves look more like curling green flowers compared to a lot of ganja on the market these days, giving it fabulous bag appeal. The smoke is a mix of tropical fruits and fragrant woody notes with hints of fresh mint and pine along the way. The high is best known for decimating bad moods and lack of attention without putting users on edge or making them jittery.
