PAR, PPFD, and what you actually meter
PAR (photosynthetically active radiation) is the waveband of light plants use for photosynthesis, roughly 400-700 nm. Marketing often says “PAR light” when it means a full-spectrum grow lamp.
What you measure at the canopy is usually PPFD (photosynthetic photon flux density): micromoles of photons per square meter per second (µmol/m²/s). Daily light integral (DLI) adds up that intensity over the photoperiod. Vegetative growth
Many tents run about 300-600 µmol/m²/s in veg, depending on how close the fixture sits and how bushy the canopy is. Lower in the band for young plants, climb as the canopy fills and you can keep VPD and watering in range.
Flowering
Ambient-CO2 flower canopies often sit somewhere around 600-900+ µmol/m²/s at the tops, with lower readings mid-canopy. Some dialed rooms push higher when environment, feed, and irrigation are tight. If leaves taco, bleach, or claw under high intensity with otherwise sane nutrition, ease the dimmer or raise the light.
