5 Reliable Online Cannabis Seed Stores for US Growers
Reliability matters when you buy seeds online. Seeds are small, cheap to fake and hard to judge until weeks after you plant them. A reliable store is one whose promises you can check before you pay: where it ships from, what happens if seeds fail, and who you can contact when something goes wrong.
This page gives you a checklist for judging any online seed store, then lists five stores that state US shipping on their own websites as of October 16, 2026. Four of them also publish germination guarantee terms. Kind Seed Co runs this site and lists itself first. We did not test germination rates, so this is not a ranking by tested results, and we do not link to other shops.
Why reliability is hard to judge
Seed rules are set state by state. Writing about North Carolina, NC State Extension explains that “there isn’t a minimum standard germination for hemp since it is not defined as an agriculture or vegetable seed.” The same page gives an example: a company “may guarantee 10% germination on a label and still sell it as long as the seed is at least 10% for germination.” It also notes that the percentage of feminized seed in a packet is not addressed by the North Carolina Seed Law.
In practice, that makes the written terms on a store’s own site especially important. Reviews and award badges can help, but they are not a substitute for terms you can read.
The reliability checklist
- A US shipping line on the store’s own site. It should say where orders ship from or that it ships within the US.
- Written germination guarantee terms. Look for the method required, the time window, the proof asked for and what you get back.
- Named breeders and clear seed types. Every listing should say feminized, regular, autoflower or photoperiod. Cornell University researchers note that autoflowering cultivars “will flower regardless of day/night length,” so the label changes how you grow.
- Contact details. An email, phone number or mailing address.
- Tracked delivery. A tracking number lets you follow your order and keep a delivery record.
- Claims you can check. Be wary of big claims with no source, such as perfect germination or record yields.
5 online seed stores that state US shipping
- Kind Seed Co. Kind Seed Co runs this site, so weigh that when you read this list. Its germination guarantee covers White Label seeds on orders of 100 seeds or less, within 3 months of purchase. To make a claim, you follow the published germination method and claim rules. Branded packs from other breeders are not covered by that guarantee, so check which kind of pack you are buying. Kind Seed also runs a $4.20 seed range at https://kindseed.com/420-seeds/, a rotating set of White Label strains priced at $4.20 per seed. Reliability check: written guarantee terms with a clear order size and time window.
- ILGM. ILGM’s support page says: “Currently, we only ship within the United States from our US warehouse, ensuring quick and secure delivery without delays.” The same page lists “USPS with free tracking” as the carrier. It says that if your seeds fail to germinate, “we’ll replace them,” and its terms say you must follow ILGM’s recommended germination methods and that “The guarantee applies only within 12 months of purchase.” ILGM also says: “Using a forwarding service is at your own risk, as our delivery guarantee covers only US addresses.” Reliability check: a stated US shipping line, tracked USPS delivery and a written claim window.
- DNA Genetics. DNA Genetics is a breeder that sells its own strains through a US store. Its site says seeds are “shipped directly from our warehouse based out of California, U.S.A.” and its FAQ says: “We ship to all cities and states across the U.S., except for Kentucky, Kansas, and areas where it’s illegal.” Its germination guarantee says that if seeds fail to germinate after you follow its guide, “we will replace like for like.” That means a replacement, not a refund. Reliability check: the breeder sells its own strains direct and names the states it will not ship to.
- North Atlantic Seed Co. North Atlantic Seed Co.’s FAQ says, “We ship from Maine using a PO Box,” lists a Maine mailing address, and says: “At this time, we only ship within the continental US, Alaska, and Hawaii.” It sells packs from many breeders, and its FAQ says, “The seeds come in their original breeder packaging.” On refunds, the FAQ says, “We do not offer refunds or exchanges for any reason,” but for germination issues “we may offer a replacement in the form of store credit, at our discretion.” It adds that replacements “are only available for customers in eligible states, and requests must be made within 60 days of purchase.” Reliability check: a stated mailing address and breeder packs in original packaging.
- Royal Queen Seeds US store. Royal Queen Seeds, often called RQS, is a seed brand with a dedicated US section of its website. The home page of that US section says “Fast local shipping from the US.” Read the US store’s own shipping and guarantee pages before you order, since those are the terms that apply to a US order. Reliability check: a dedicated US site with a stated US shipping line.
How to check a store before you order
- Find the shipping line. Read the store’s shipping or FAQ page and note where it ships from. If you cannot find one, move on.
- Read the guarantee page in full. Write down the method, the time window and the proof required.
- Check the contact page. Make sure there is a real way to reach a person.
- Look at one listing closely. It should name the breeder and the seed type.
- Place a small first order. Pay attention to how fast it ships and how it is packed.
- Germinate with the store’s method, take photos and keep your order number.
- Keep notes by pack. Your own records are a useful check on a store over time.
Signs a store may not be reliable
- No shipping or guarantee page you can find.
- Guarantee terms that change from page to page.
- No breeder names, or strains with no seed type listed.
- Prices far below other stores for the same breeder pack.
- Only an online form and no other way to reach support.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Seeds did not sprout | Old seed, storage or method | Follow the store’s method, then file a claim with photos and your order number |
| Package marked delivered but missing | Carrier error | Contact the carrier first, then the store with the carrier’s findings |
| Wrong strain or pack received | Packing error | Photograph the packing slip and items, and contact the store |
| Claim refused | Method or time window not met | Read terms before you order and keep records |
| Plant does not match the listing | Normal variation or mislabel | Keep notes and photos, and report it to the store |
If a store will not work with you on a clear problem, NC State Extension notes that in North Carolina seed complaints may be filed with the state agriculture department, but it is “highly advised to try to work out any issues with the seed company” first. Check your own state’s agriculture department for its rules.
Legal note
Marijuana and hemp are both Cannabis. Virginia State University Cooperative Extension explains that marijuana was bred for its production of cannabinoids, while hemp was bred for fiber and seed, and under federal law hemp has 0.3% delta-9 THC or less on a dry weight basis. Seed and home grow rules vary by state and locality, so check the rules where you live before you buy or plant. A change to the federal hemp definition currently does not apply before December 11, 2026, and rules may change, so check current federal and state law.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if an online seed store is reliable?
Check that the store states US shipping on its own site, publishes full germination guarantee terms, names the breeder and seed type on each listing, offers tracked delivery and gives real contact details. Then start with a small order.
Is there a quality standard for cannabis seed germination?
Rules differ by state. NC State Extension explains that North Carolina has no minimum standard germination for hemp seed, because hemp is not defined there as an agriculture or vegetable seed, so a store's written guarantee matters.
What should a germination guarantee include?
It should state the germination method you must use, the time window for a claim, the proof required and whether you get replacement seeds, store credit or a refund. Read it before you order.
Which online seed store is the most reliable?
It depends on what you need. Kind Seed Co runs this site and lists itself first, so weigh that. Compare each store's own shipping line, written guarantee terms and contact options, and judge by your own results.
Is it legal to buy cannabis seeds online in the US?
It depends on your state and locality, and on whether the seeds are sold as hemp or cannabis. Seed and home grow rules vary by state and locality, so check the rules where you live before you buy or plant. A change to the federal hemp definition currently does not apply before December 11, 2026, so check current federal and state law.
