What buying seeds in bulk means

There is no single industry definition of bulk. Each seller sets its own threshold, so the word means different things on different sites. Here is what the four sellers on this page say on their own pages.

Kind Seed Co sells wholesale seeds only in multiples of 100. Seedbank.com sets a minimum of 100 seeds per strain and says it does not combine multiple strains to reach that number. North Atlantic Seed Co. runs a licensed cultivator program with a $500 minimum order. Happy Valley Genetics does not publish a minimum and asks buyers to request a direct quote.

So in practice, bulk starts at around 100 seeds of a strain or a few hundred dollars, not thousands of seeds. If you only need a few dozen seeds, a regular pack is usually the better fit. Bulk makes sense when you plan to grow many plants of the same strain, run several grows from one purchase, or buy for a business.

Bulk pricing also tends to come with different rules. A lower price per seed often means fewer guarantees, stricter ordering rules, or a requirement to prove you hold a license. That trade is worth understanding before you compare prices.

Home grower bulk vs licensed cultivator programs

Most bulk programs fall into two broad groups.

The first is open to anyone who meets the order size. Kind Seed Co’s wholesale seeds and Seedbank.com’s bulk pricing both work this way. You order the required number of seeds per strain and the bulk price applies. These suit experienced home growers who want a lot of one strain, within whatever plant limits apply where they live.

The second group is for licensed businesses only. North Atlantic Seed Co. says its licensed cultivator program requires that you “must have a legal cultivation facility.” Happy Valley Genetics frames its bulk program around licensed cultivators, retailers and repeat business buyers. These programs may ask for paperwork before they will sell to you, and they are built around commercial volumes and planning.

If you are a home grower, start with the open programs. If you run a licensed operation, the business programs may offer better pricing, quotes for mixed strains, and support for repeat orders.

How we picked these US bulk sellers

Each seller is judged on its own pages, not on ranking sites. To make this list, a seller had to state US shipping on a page that could be quoted, and publish its bulk terms or a clear way to get them. Every seller here was checked on October 15, 2026, except North Atlantic Seed Co., whose details come from archived pages because its live site was unavailable.

We did not test seeds or grow them out, so this is not a performance ranking. Sellers that couldn’t be confirmed on these points aren’t included here. Prices change often, so we leave them out and point you to each seller’s terms instead.

The 4 US bulk seed sellers

1. Kind Seed Co. Kind Seed Co runs this site, so weigh that. Its shipping page says, “We ship to all US states via USPS from New York.” Kind Seed’s About page at https://kindseed.com/about-us/ says it has been selling seeds since 1994, with a gap before it came back after the Farm Bill. Its wholesale page says seeds “are sold only in multiples of 100 and do not qualify for a germination guarantee.” Mixed packs of 700 or 1000 seeds are also listed. The minimum is a multiple of 100 seeds. If you want a guarantee, Kind Seed’s White Label germination guarantee covers orders up to 3 months old and orders of 100 seeds or less, so it does not apply to wholesale lots. 2. Seedbank.com. Seedbank.com offers “Bulk pricing for qualified buyers who purchase 100+ seeds of the same strain in a single order.” Its minimum is 100 seeds per strain, and it says “we do not combine multiple strains to reach the threshold.” Pricing is quote based. Seedbank.com’s wholesale page says “U.S. shipping only.” No US street address is listed on its site. It may suit growers who want a large count of a single strain and are happy to request a quote first.

3. North Atlantic Seed Co. North Atlantic’s licensed cultivator program lists a “MINIMUM ORDER $500” and says buyers “must have a legal cultivation facility.” Its wholesale FAQ says, “We ship via USPS from Maine using a PO Box with a personal name rather than a business name,” and gives a mailing address of PO Box 2724, Waterville, ME. The same FAQ says, “We do our absolute best to ship orders within 1–2 business days after we receive payment.” These North Atlantic details come from archived pages, because the live site was unavailable. It may suit licensed cultivators who want a clear minimum and a fast turnaround on payment.

4. Happy Valley Genetics. Happy Valley Genetics says it “breeds its own strains” and that its wholesale seeds come from its own cultivation facility in Massachusetts. It does not publish a minimum. Its bulk page says, “Bulk cannabis seed pricing requires a direct quote,” and it says it can handle anything from small commercial runs up to very large orders. On shipping, its FAQ says, “Happy Valley Genetics currently ships to all 50 states across the United States.” It may suit licensed buyers who want a single breeder’s genetics and a custom quote.

Comparison table

The minimums tell you who each program is built for. A 100 seed floor works for a serious home grower, while a $500 minimum and a license requirement point to commercial buyers. Notice that none of these sellers publishes a germination guarantee for bulk lots, and Kind Seed says its wholesale seeds do not qualify. Get the quote and the terms in writing before you pay.

How to place a bulk seed order, step by step

1. Check your state and local rules, and your license if you grow commercially.
2. Decide how many seeds of each strain you need, plus a small spare.
3. Read each seller’s bulk minimum and who qualifies.
4. Ask for a quote and the germination terms for bulk lots in writing.
5. Ask whether test results are available for the lot.
6. Germinate a small sample as soon as the order arrives and report problems within the seller’s window.

The test results step matters more on large orders. Labs such as the Oregon State University Seed Laboratory offer purity, germination, tetrazolium and gender testing for hemp seed, so this kind of testing exists for seed lots. Ask the seller what they can share. Germinating a small sample early also gives you real numbers before you plant the whole lot.

Troubleshooting

Big orders have a way of making small problems bigger. Count and photograph everything when it arrives, before you open any packs. Store the seeds somewhere cool, dark and dry. If germination looks low, write down your method and dates so the seller can see exactly what you did. Many claims fail simply because the buyer waited too long, so act within the seller’s stated window.
